What’s Happening in Charlotte This Fourth of July?

Tuesday, July 2

Jack in the Box Summer Shootout & Fireworks Extravaganza

Charlotte Motor Speedway
The speedway hosts the Summer Shootout Series during June and July. In addition to a full program of Legend Car and Bandolero racing, the Summer Shootout Series includes special attractions, such as school bus race nights and a huge Fireworks Extravaganza Night.

Wednesday, July 3

Charlotte Symphony Orchestra

Symphony Park at Southpark
July 3, 2013
The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra Summer Pops series runs all summer long, but the July 4th weekend is always a highlight. There will, of course, be a “Celebrate America” theme to the concerts. ($10 for adults, under 18 are free).

U.S. National Whitewater Coca-Cola Fourth of July Festival

The USNWC 4th of July Festival features two consecutive days of free live music and fireworks. The celebration takes place Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4. Rock your red, white and blue at the USNWC with the Coca-Cola 4th of July Festival, a two-day celebration taking place on July 3rd and July 4th. Both days will feature live music, as well as fireworks over our man-made whitewater river. I can personally say that this is one of the best shows I’ve seen. The fireworks are pretty close (but obviously, still very safe). It does get crowded here, so come early and enjoy the atmosphere.

Called “the area’s biggest and best fireworks show,” tickets usually do sell out for this event every year at Knights Stadium. The fireworks display will be held after the Charlotte Knight game. Come early for the pre-game festivities including live music, food, drinks, an interactive kids area, prizes and more.

Lake Wylie, S.C.

3990 Charlotte Highway
Lake Wylie, SC
What a great view for a fireworks display!  Lake Wylie provides a very large annual display, with the best viewing from the Buster Boyd Bridge area. View the show from the boat landing or from one of several restaurants which provide excellent viewing venues.

“Nights of Fire” at Carowinds

14523 Carowinds Blvd.
Nightly beginning July 4 through August 11, Carowinds theme park will celebrate with “Night of Fire,” as the sky lights up each evening with a stunning fireworks celebration.

Novant Health July 4th Spectacular

6 to 10 p.m.
310 N. Kings Drive
The biggest show around; this spectacular fireworks show in Uptown Charlotte with the city spending $50,000 on the fabulous 20 minute show, is a huge hit each and every year.  This show attracts over 250,000 people to the Uptown area and the show can be viewed from miles around. AOL Travel ranked Charlotte’s Uptown show the 13th best in America and it never disappoints. Plenty of family-friendly activities are planned for all to enjoy including face painting, watermelon eating contests, sack races, tug of war, live music and plenty to do for adults and children alike.  Activities start at 4 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.   At 9:30 p.m., the fireworks display begins!
